The first independent departments of pediatric cycle of the KazGMI began to organize and appoint heads as early as August of 1939. Konstantin Fedorovich Popov, Candidate of Medical Sciences, who previously worked as a chief physician of children’s polyclinic in Moscow, was elected as the head of the Children’s Diseases Propaedeutics Department at the Pediatric Faculty. A.I. Avenirova, young assistant, became the organizer of the clinical base. Initially the training base was a small adjacent building to the children’s clinic No.1 of Frunzen district of Almaty at Krasin str. (Valikhanova str.) and the corner of Paster str. (Makatayev str.). There were only 25 beds in the adjacent building of the clinic, some of which were temporarily moved during the lectures and the children were carried out. The Children’s Diseases Propaedeutics Department was established in 1952 – for 20 years (1968-1989) the department was headed by Lebedeva Valentina Andreyevna – M.D., professor. V.A. Lebedeva is the honored worker of science of Kazakh SSR, winner of the State Prize of Kazakh SSR, the founder of pediatric allergology of Kazakhstan. 20 candidate dissertations were defended under her supervision. Children’s Diseases Propaedeutics Department was joined to the Department of Children’s Diseases in 1995.
From 1989 to 1996, the Children’s Diseases Propaedeutics Department was headed by the disciple of V.A. Lebedova – Imambayeva Tatiana Mikhailovna, M.D., professor, Excellent Worker of Public Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, author of more than 95 scientific articles, 7 textbooks, co-author of the textbook “Pediatrics” in the Kazakh language in 2013, recommended by the MES of the RK for medical universities. The Department of internship for pediatricians was established in 1992, which later transformed into the Department of Children’s Diseases. In the process of reforming of higher education in 1996 it was joined by the Children’s Diseases Propaedeutics Department. The new name – Department of Children’s Diseases with course of propaedeutics of children’s diseases and endocrinology, which since the establishment until September of 2008 was headed by Mazhitova Zaira Khamitovna, M.D., professor. Z.H. Mazhitova, Excellent Worker of Public Health of the RK, founder of ecological pediatrics in Kazakhstan, author of more than 300 scientific articles, theses, 26 pre-patents for invention, 3 textbooks, 2 monographs. 4 doctoral dissertations and 26 candidate dissertations were defended under the supervision of Z.H. Mazhitova.
The Children’s Diseases Propaedeutics Department was re-established in 2006 under the leadership of Batyrkhanov Shaykhslam Kilibayevich, professor, M.D., leading specialist in pediatric pulmonology in the Republic of Kazakhstan. He published more than 350 scientific works, 12 methodical recommendations, including sections of monograph, educational and methodical textbook. He is the author of several inventions (USSR and RK). He is a member of the editorial board of scientific magazines “Medical and Biological Magazine of Ulyanov” and “Health Care of Kyrgyzstan”, a member of dissertation councils and the State Attestation Committee at the KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov. Scientific development upon the relevant issues of modern pediatric pulmonology and intensive care in pediatrics, 3 candidate’s and 2 master’s theses are conducted under the supervision of Sh.K.Batyrkhanov. In 2009, the Children’s Diseases Propaedeutics Department merged with the Internal Medicine Propaedeutics Department, headed by Yesenzhanova Gulshat Musrepovna, M.D. professor.
Module “Peculiarities of childhood” was established in 2014, the module is headed by Ismailova Slu Khabibiyevna, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Docent, pediatrician of the highest medical category, Excellent Worker of Public Health of the RK, experienced organizer. She is the author of more than 50 articles, has 1 patent for innovation, participates in the national scientific grant of the ERASMUS+. In 2016, the module was reorganized into Course No.1, due to the merger of all departments of pediatric (except for infectious and surgical) profile, in a single Department of Children’s Diseases. Abdullayeva Gulban Makhametzhanovna, pediatrician of the highest category, a leading neonatologist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, member of the Association of Neonatologists and Specialists of Children’s Medicine (2018), honorary member of the RPA “Federation of Anesthesiologists and Resuscitators” (2017). Member of the Union of Pediatricians of Russia (2015), member of the Russian Association of Neonatologists (2012), national coordinator for breastfeeding. She has published more than 100 scientific papers in her specialty, including methodological recommendations (2). She is the author of clinical protocols in neonatology, inventions (1) and innovative patents (3) of the RK. Member of the editorial board of the scientific magazine “Anesthesiology and Resuscitation of Kazakhstan” since 2018. Since 2014, became a member of EPC of Pediatrics.
In 2017, by the decision of the Academic Council of the University, the course was transformed into an independent department of “Children’s Diseases Propaedeutics” – the department was headed by S.H. Ismailova, Candidate of Medical Sciences, docent.
Since September 2020, the Children’s Diseases Propaedeutics Department was headed by Sagatbayeva Nurgul Abayevna, Candidate of Medical Sciences, docent, pediatrician, published more than 30 scientific papers, including methodological recommendations (2), pre-patent (1), monograph (1). Consultant in Almaty Children’s Municipal Hospital No.2.
| Sagatbayeva Nurgul Abayevna graduated from the pediatric faculty of the Almaty State Medical Institute in 1994. From 1994 to 1998, she worked as an assistant at the Department of Nutrition of the ASMI. From 1998 to 2000 year – worked as intern-researcher at the Department of Pediatrics with the course of Propaedeutics of Children’s Diseases and Endocrinology of Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov. In 2000 she entered the postgraduate course on specialty pediatrics at the Pediatrics Department with the course of Propaedeutics of Children’s Diseases and Endocrinology of KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov. In 2002, she defended her PhD thesis on “Evaluation of the immunogenetic status of children living in an environmentally unfriendly region of the Aral Sea” with the assignment of the title of candidate of medical sciences. From 2002 to 2009, she worked in the scientific department of the Republican Blood Center, first as a CNS and then as head of department. From 2009 to 2015 – Assistant of the Department of Children’s Diseases No.1 of KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov. In 2015-2020 she was a assistant, then a docent of the Propaedeutics Department of KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov.
