Professor Evgeny Grigorievich Furman, a distinguished Russian pediatric scientist and outstanding clinician, served as Guest Professor at the Department of Propaedeutics of Pediatric Diseases of the School of Pediatrics at Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University from May 19 to 29, 2026, in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Professor Evgeny G. Furman is Head of the Department of Pediatrics at Academician E.A. Wagner Perm State Medical University, with academic and clinical expertise in pediatric pulmonology, allergology, and orphan diseases in children. His scholarly and educational contributions include 233 scientific publications, 11 patents, 9 monographs, 11 educational manuals, 7 clinical guidelines, and 2 national textbooks on pediatric pulmonology. According to Scopus, his research profile comprises 47 indexed publications with an h-index of 5, while his longstanding academic mentorship has also included supervision of 7 PhD dissertations.

The Guest Professor program was conducted across several clinical and academic sites in Almaty. The main venue of the visit was Almaty Children’s City Clinical Hospital No. 2, where the majority of the educational activities took place. The program also included visits to the National Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery, a flagship pediatric institution of national importance, and to the University Clinic “Aksai” of Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, a modern multidisciplinary clinical center. In addition, Professor Furman participated in the annual international scientific and practical conference AnaMedForum, one of Kazakhstan’s leading academic events, held at the University’s main building on Tole Bi Street.

Throughout the ten-day academic program, Professor Furman delivered over 16 lectures and conducted 6 seminars addressing some of the most important and up-to-date topics in pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology.

The master classes became one of the key highlights of the program. Practical sessions on asthma control, modern approaches to bronchopulmonary diseases, lung ultrasound, and genetic aspects of allergic disorders in children provided residents, young researchers, and practicing physicians with new perspectives in contemporary pediatric practice.

A special distinction for the Kazakh scientific community was Professor Furman’s appointment as Chair of the Young Scientists Competition jury during the III International AnaMedForum, held by the University on May 21–22, 2026. His involvement in evaluating the work of young researchers elevated the competition to an internationally recognized expert platform and ensured an exceptionally high scientific standard.

The visit concluded with the signing of cooperation agreements and the establishment of a long-term framework for collaboration between the Department of Propaedeutics of Pediatric Diseases of Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University and the Department of Pediatrics of Academician E.A. Wagner Perm State Medical University. The parties identified several strategic areas for future partnership, including joint scientific publications and monographs in leading peer-reviewed journals, development of clinical guidelines and educational materials for pediatric practice, organization of academic programs and training opportunities for residents and doctoral students, continuation of collaborative research in pediatric pulmonology, allergology, and orphan diseases, as well as future academic visits and participation in international scientific conferences.
