On March 16, 2026, the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases of Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University organized and held the festive event “Nauryz Meyramy” at its clinical base, the Children’s City Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital in Almaty.
During the event, students discussed the historical origins of Nauryz among Turkic peoples and shared their knowledge of the traditions, culture, and customs associated with celebrating Nauryz in Kazakh families. They also spoke about the origins and symbolism of traditional Kazakh national clothing.
The event was prepared and conducted by 7th-year interns of the Pediatrics program, group 19-012(k), under the guidance of Professor L.T. Yeraliyeva.
Among the participants were Head of the Department Professor A.K. Katarbayev, Professor L.T. Yeraliyeva, Professor G.G. Kuttykuzhanova, Associate Professor G. Xetaeva, Associate Professor A.T. Dzhumabekova, Associate Professor K.A. Umesheva, Associate Professor G.Zh. Onalbayeva, Associate Professor A.Zh. Tanirbergenova, Lecturer E.S. Litosh, Assistant Professor Yerdan Mukhaliyev, Assistant Z.T. Yegeubayeva, as well as 7th-year Pediatrics interns of groups 19-012(k), 19-011(k), 19-09(k), 19-010(k), 4th-year General Medicine students of groups 22-064(a), 22-065(a), 22-005(k), 22-006(k), 22-007(k), 22-008(k), 22-046(r), 22-047(r), and 4th-year Pediatrics students of groups 22-01(k), 22-02(k), 22-013(r), 22-014(r).
We believe the event contributed to promoting cultural values, strengthening students’ interest in national traditions, and fostering respect for the rich heritage of the Kazakh people.
