Information-educational and ideological work is carried out at the university on the basis of the law on education in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the law on youth policy of the RK, the orders of the Ministries of Health and Education of the RK, the Concept of continuous education of students, the strategic plan for the development of educational and social work in the university, with the requirements of state policy in the field of higher education.
The main directions of educational work:
- the organization of informing students and employees, the study of public opinion in the team (backward information);
- the formation of civic maturity, patriotism, moral moral qualities;
- education of legal culture, prevention of offenses, negative phenomena; propaganda of a healthy lifestyle, psychological and pedagogical work;
The priority direction of educational work is the civil-patriotic and spiritual-moral upbringing of the students’ personality in accordance with the traditions of the Kazakh state and the policies pursued by the President and the government, both during training sessions and at various extracurricular activities.
At the department pass events of a patriotic nature:
- Independence Day, Day of Unity of Peoples, Defender of the Fatherland Day, Victory Day, Day of State Symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan, meetings with veterans of medical service;
Passes solemn meetings and concerts dedicated to:
- International Day of March 8;
- Day of the medical officer;
- Teacher’s Day;
- Evenings of rest with participation and honoring of the best teachers and students, honored doctors.
Annually at the department events are held on the legal education of students, psychological help to students, meetings on the topics:
“The rights and duties of the student”, “The personality of the student of medical high school in the educational process”, “Rules of residence in a hostel,” “Prevention of religious extremism and terrorism in the modern world,” “The state language is my language,” “My profession is a pediatrician, “Anti-Corruption Measures” Corruption Zhol JOY ”
Quarterly meetings are held in the hostel with students, familiarization with everyday life. Every year, the teaching staff attend the curatorial groups of theaters, cinemas, museums.
The traditions of the department were the holding of events for honoring the veterans of the pediatric faculty, timed to the Day of the Pediatrician and the Day of the Elderly, the celebration of the New Year and Nauryz, the conference on “Ethics and deontology in the activities of a pediatrician”, conferences dedicated to the Republic Day, “Children’s Day”, World AIDS Day, to promote healthy lifestyles.
As part of the educational work, students under the guidance of teachers of the department conduct thematic seminars on important topics for pupils of orphanages and schools in Almaty to promote healthy lifestyles.
«My profession – Pediatrician»
On March 16, 2026 the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University hosted an event on My profession – Pediatrician.
The speakers introduced the audience to the fundamentals, objectives, and history of paediatrics worldwide and in the Republic of Kazakhstan as well as biographies of the most influential paediatricians who have made significant contributions to the advancement of practical healthcare, medical education, and science.
The event was conducted by 7th-year interns of the “Pediatrics” group 19-009(k), under the supervision of Associate Professor A.T. Dzhumabekova.

«Nauryz Meyramy at the Clinical Base of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases»
On March 16, 2026, the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases of Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University organized and held the festive event “Nauryz Meyramy” at its clinical base, the Children’s City Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital in Almaty.
During the event, students discussed the historical origins of Nauryz among Turkic peoples and shared their knowledge of the traditions, culture, and customs associated with celebrating Nauryz in Kazakh families. They also spoke about the origins and symbolism of traditional Kazakh national clothing.
The event was prepared and conducted by 7th-year interns of the Pediatrics program, group 19-012(k), under the guidance of Professor L.T. Yeraliyeva.
