RESEARCH WORK

The Department of Neonatology actively participates in the development of the research activities of the School of Pediatrics. Head of the Department, Doctor of Medical Sciences Bozhbanbayeva N. S. is the chairman of the Department., PhD Associate Professor without academic title Sairankyzy Saltanat is a member of the “Scientific Committee of the School of Pediatrics”.

The department has 2 students PhD doctoral student in the specialty “Medicine”:

1) Adilbekova I. M., PhD doctoral student of 2 years of study. Dissertation topic: “Prognostic value of complex biomarkers in intraventricular hemorrhages in premature newborns”. 2) Alimukhamedov U. R., PhD 1 – year doctoral student. Dissertation topic: “Evaluation of the effectiveness of a complex of minimally invasive technologies in stabilizing the respiratory status of premature infants”. Scientific advisor to both companies PhD doctoral students are represented by the Head of the department, MD Bozhbanbayeva N. S.

Also, the Department of Neonatology is the executor of the Scientific and Technical project on Program-targeted financing of scientific and technical programs of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2021-2023. NTP topic: “Development of a science-based program to improve perinatal outcomes of preterm birth”, Scientific supervisor: PhD, head of the pediatric unit of the NCP and DH Altynbayeva G.B. Under the guidance of the head of the Department, Doctor of Medical Sciences Bozhbanbayev N. S., an application was submitted for participation in the Scientific and Technical Project for 2025-2027 of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the topic “Development of innovative technologies in the care of premature babies using fetal cells”. An application was also submitted for participation in the intra-university Scientific and Technical project for 2025-2027 on the topic “Optimization of diagnosis and prognosis of neurological disorders in deep-premature infants in the post-neonatal period”.

During the work of the department, several copyrights were obtained for research activities, training programs and educational and methodical literature.

In 2024, the head of the Department, Doctor of Medical Sciences Bozhbanbayeva N. S. published a monograph on one of the topical topics of modern neonatology “Congenital and perinatal viral infections”. Also, the faculty of the department actively conducts publication activities, which is reflected in the articles published in International databases as Scopus and in the journals of KKSON of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On November 19, 2024, on the occasion of the International Day of Premature Babies, the department organized and held a scientific and practical conference with international participation “Interdisciplinary issues of neonatology and pediatrics”. It was attended by leading Russian and foreign neonatologists, as well as specialists from other branches of medicine such as ophthalmology, cardiology, anesthesiology and resuscitation.

In addition, the department conducts active research work with students. Residents of the first and second years of study in the specialty “Neonatology” actively participate in the “Online Magazine Club of Neonatal nurses” under the guidance of the faculty of the department. At the scientific and practical conference of students, interns and residents of the pediatric profile “Young pediatric researchaer -2024 ” a 5th-year student of the Faculty of Pediatrics, Hasanova Ismira, made a report on “Risk factors for death in low-weight newborns” and received a prize of the 1st place, one of the leaders is the head of the department.department, MD Bozhbanbayeva N. S., 4th-year student of the pediatric Faculty Zharylkasynova Aidana with a report in English “Retinopathy of prematurity is a globol problem of neonatal ophtalmology “together with a 6th-year student of the Tbilisi Medical University, we won in the nomination “Best Influencer”, scientific supervisor PhD, associate professor without academic title Sairankyzy Saltanat.
